The impact gambling has on the brain's reward syst The impact gambling has on the brain's reward system is so powerful that all you can really gain from the occasional win is a bigger loss of control.

When a person wins during gambling, the brain's reward system is stimulated, resulting in a large release of the neurotransmitter "dopamine" this response is at the root of many addictions and is one of the reasons addicts often feel they need more and more each time, whether it be substance use, gambling or any other activity that targets this addictive mechanism in the brain.
